Client: Relocating client
KITAS first, then a US visa — the full route
The typical sequence we run: apply for the KITAS from outside Indonesia, arrive, collect the permit, and only then move on to the US visa with residency already in hand.
- Stage 1
- KITAS filed from abroad
- Stage 2
- Arrival and permit issue
- Stage 3
- US visa process
- Timelines

How it ran
KITAS application filed while the client was still outside Indonesia
Electronic visa issued, client flew in, KITAS collected on arrival
Visit to our Bali office to open the US visa process
US visa handled with Indonesian residency already documented
What made the difference
The order matters. Applying for the third-country visa after the KITAS is in hand is what makes the ties-to-residence argument work — the same person applying without residency has a materially weaker case.
