Japan is one of the most predictable destinations: with a complete file and a clear purpose, a decision usually follows within a few working days of filing. Most of the time goes into preparation, not review.
The distinctive feature of the Japanese system is that in many cases documents are filed not directly with the consulate but through an accredited agency. The consulate itself sets the list of accredited agencies, and filing outside that scheme is generally not accepted. We work within it.
Filing from Indonesia requires proof of lawful stay. A KITAS settles that; with a visit visa it depends on the consulate's current requirements, which we check at the time.
Japan rarely refuses arbitrarily, but it is exacting about the accuracy of the file. Mismatched dates between bookings and the itinerary, or an incomplete financial section, cause requests for additional documents more often than doubts about the applicant.

Why can I not file directly with the consulate?
In many cases the consulate accepts documents only through accredited agencies. That is the prescribed procedure, not intermediation for its own sake.
How detailed does the itinerary need to be?
Day by day, with cities and accommodation. This is one of the key differences from European applications.
Are multiple-entry visas issued?
Yes. A travel history and documented residence improve the odds. The decision rests with the consulate.
