Chinese visas are split by purpose: tourist L, business M, and private visits by individual invitation. The type drives both the document package and whether an invitation from the Chinese side is required.
Filing from Indonesia is open to residents. The status requirement here is comparatively strict: the consulate expects proof of lawful stay, and a KITAS satisfies it. Filing on a visit visa is not accepted everywhere or always.
The double-entry visa is available only to KITAS holders. This is the clearest case in the whole section where residency is not merely helpful but a stated condition — without a residence permit only the single-entry version is open to you.
The destination matters most for people sourcing goods or negotiating with suppliers — and on Bali there are considerably more of those than people assume.

Common questions
Is an invitation mandatory?
For the business M visa, yes. For the tourist L visa, accommodation and ticket bookings are enough.
Can I file on a visit visa instead of a KITAS?
Status requirements in the filing country are strict and practice on visit visas is inconsistent. We check at the time of your enquiry.
Why is the double-entry visa restricted?
It is open only to KITAS holders. Without a residence permit only the single-entry version is available — the clearest example of residency unlocking an option that otherwise does not exist.
